Complete Your Briefing
Preview the Lumen Fidei Adventure for T.I.M.E Stories
Come in, agents. Take your seats, don’t stand about. We all have work to do, and the sooner we’re back to it, the better for all of us.
You’ve already had your preliminary briefing on the mission that we’ve codenamed Lumen Fidei. You know the place that you’ll be sent within the timestream—15th century Spain, near the end of the centuries-long Reconquista wars between Christians and Moors. And you know your objective: to join Michel d’Ailly, the Legate of Pope Martin V, and attend a secret meeting of the Christian militant orders. The gathering has been called to discuss a portentous stone, which we suspect has supernatural importance, especially to our enemies. You must find this stone and bring it back to the T.I.M.E Agency before anyone else is able to seize it.
Test Your Faith
Now that you know the basics, we need to take a closer look at some of the special circumstances surrounding this mission. You already know we’re using a new travel procedure set up by the TTD (Transfer Technical Direction): ten TU for your first run, twenty for your second, and thirty for your third run and following runs. As you might expect, this will dramatically change your progression… and that’s not the only new procedure you’ll need to contend with during the Lumen Fidei mission.
You’ve been on a few runs by now, so you know a little of what to expect. As before, your receptacles have a number of characteristics that you’ll be able to draw on throughout the mission, and here, your most important skills will be your dexterity, your combat ability, and your diplomacy. You’ll also learn that each receptacle possesses a special talent or innate ability that may help you to gain an advantage over the obstacles you encounter. Over the past few weeks, we’ve revealed two more characters on the Agency’s social media channels, and you can find dossiers on those receptacles below.
You’ll also notice that the receptacles which you will inhabit have been diametrically divided among the faithful and the impious. Before your runs, I hope that you and your fellow agents will take the time to strategize when choosing your receptacles. The faith or infidelity of your receptacles will position your group on the faith table that’s currently displayed on your screens below.
With this mission, you’re returning to a time where faith has an unknowable power, and you’ll see the effect of that throughout the mission. The choices that you make will impact your receptacles’ faith—with effects that you'll track on the faith table. As you can see, rising to the rank of Pious can give your Christian receptacles great power, making them much more adept at completing tasks and passing tests. You can gain similar rewards for leading your receptacles towards apostasy, but you must be cautious. If your group falls to the rank of Infidel or Heretic, there will be impacts on the outcome of your mission that even we cannot predict.
I realize that we’re forcing a lot of new procedures in front of you—a new run structure, the impact of faith, and the knowledge that you can retrieve items from the timestream, just to name a few. We can’t predict all the effects that this will have on your runs… but your loyalty to the T.I.M.E Agency has never been more important.
Good luck, agents.
